COWS. Mooooooo 🐄 🐄 🐄
Back-in-the-day ™️, ranch owners would ‘brand’ their cattle with a hot iron, to make sure that their animals were easily distinguishable from others who may be grazing in the same place, or if they got lost, presumably.
It makes sense to make sure your beast stands out from another; as you wouldn’t want your valuable investment to get lost in the crowd – and it’s the same for your business!
As businesses grow, they flex and adapt to the needs of their customers. But all too often, the brand and branding are left behind as more pressing matters are dealt with. That’s why it’s a good idea to conduct a ‘brand audit’ every two to three years.
For example, we’ve all been to those favourite old pubs and restaurants that were once the place to be. It doesn’t take long before decor goes out of date, flooring looks a bit ragged, and the menu seems tired. Eventually, if these issues aren’t taken care of, customers find somewhere else.
It can be hard to know where to start.
> What are the priorities?
> Where is my limited budget best allocated?
> Are there any quick wins?
> Are there any urgent things that should be addressed?
That’s why it’s a good idea to undertake a Brand Audit from time to time – perhaps every 2 – 3 years. This will give an insight into:
> Is my brand still visible in the current marketplace?
> Is my branding working hard enough for me?
> How are my database / email lists looking?
> Does my branding work on my digital / social channels?
> Is my website out of date?
> Are there compliance / GDPR issues?
If you’re not sure about the answers to some of these questions, or if you just feel it might be time to tackle that branding project you’ve been putting on the back burner, let me know. I’d love to help. I’m able to offer brand audits over one or two days followed by practical advice, and a plan of action to help move your branding to the next level.
